Eixample is Catalan for 'extension', meaning an extension of the old Barcelona city, and it is one of the most popular districts in the Catalan capital. Eixample was designed by Catalan-born architect, Ildefons Cerdà, who took traffic and sunlight (amongst many other things) into consideration when drawing up the plans of the new area.... 

Eixample is now characterised by its octagonal blocks and its grid-like pattern, with wide streets and both commercial and residential areas. It is split into two parts, Eixample Esquerra (Left, or in Spanish, Izquierdo) and Eixample Dret (Right, or in Spanish, Derecho), and is home to one of the most famous streets in Barcelona, Passeig de Gràcia, known for its high fashion stores and trendy restaurants.

The street is intersected by the long Avinguda Diagonal, which runs through the entire city.

Eixample Derecho is home to many gems of 'Modernisme' architecture, including the unique Casa Milà (La Pedrera), the colourful Casa Batlló and the towering Sagrada Familia, known as Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece. This apartment was incredible. So thankful they book 1 night stays because my family and I missed our flight back home & needed a place to stay last minute. We were only there 1 night but wish we could’ve stayed longer! Very big apartment, comfortable, clean, functional, elevator, good wifi, windows open for fresh air, balcony’s so nice, BEDS SO COMFORTABLE! Communication with host was fast and easy! The location is excellent and the metro is literally right downstairs. This place is perfect for a family/friend group!

Wir haben das Apartment für einen Messeaufenthalt unseres internationalen Sales Teams gebucht - und waren begeistert. Die Lage ist hervorragend zentral. Metro-Station ist direkt vor der Haustür. Aber auch zu Fuß oder mit dem Mietfahrrad (empfohlen!) sind alle Punkte in Barcelona bequem und schnell erreichbar. Die Wohnung hat Loft-Charakter. Modern in altem Gebäude. Zur Hauptstraße hin zwei kleine, pitoreske Balkone. Nach hinten Balkon und Fenster zu einem typischen Innenhof. In Laufweite Unmengen kleiner Tapasbars, Reataurants und Kneipen. Im Gegensatz zur nahegelegenen Oldtown und La Rambla ist dieses Viertel sicherlich weniger touristisch. Hafen und Strand ebenfalls in Lauf-, Fahrrad-, bzw. Metro-Reichweite. Taxi sowieso. Messe Gelände Fira Gran Via ist hervorragend und schnell erreichbar. Ausstattung ist zweckmäßig, dennoch klug und vollkommen aussreichend: AC, Waschmaschine, Spülmaschine, zwei Bäder, bequeme Betten. Die vorzugweise volldigitalen Schlüssel (App) funktionieren wunderbar. Einzig die Email-Zuteilung an die verschiedenen Bewohner war ein wenig "eckig". Durch Nachtelefonieren konnte das geregelt werden. Eva&Jack antworten blitzschnell, umfassend und sympatisch. Vorbildlich! Man fühlt sich jederzeit aufgehoben. Fazit: Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
